getting ready

Having troubles with posting again. Hope this works. I'm getting closer and closer to going up north. The movers came Monday Aug 25 and moved the bulk of the stuff that I would like to have with me in the north. Included were the mountain bike and the snowmobile that I was able to find. It's a '99 Skidoo, Touring LE, long track, fan cooled, and the best part is that it has only 61 miles on it. Just like new! I have been spending lots of money on other things as well, such as a microwave, a toaster, laptop computer, digital camera, dishes, cutlery, and a host of smaller items. My flight is booked for Aug. 16. Leave Toronto at 7:00, fly to Ottawa, then to Iqaluit, and on a twin Otter to Kimmirut, arriving about 2:30Pm. At least there are no overnight layovers. I am beginning to get excited, but a little anxious too. Laurel is pretty sad at times at the thought of my going, and I know I will miss her as well. I have included a couple of pictures, one of the snowmobile and one of the pile of stuff the movers took. I'll try to post updates more frequently as the time gets closer.

blogging troubles

I seem to be having some difficulty in getting all my postings to show up. Bear with me while I sort this out.

mountain bike

It was recommended to me by the principal in the school at Kimmirut, that I bring a mountain bike with me as there are many trail leading out of the hamlet that are suitable for riding. (There's a small caveat-- apparently one shouldn't go out alone unless with a big dog or a gun because of polar bears!) Anyway, I managed to locate a suitable bike at Trysport in Parry Sound, nothing fancy, just serviceable. Now for a snowmobile!
Cheers
